About BMA
We are a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school based in Queniborough, North Leicestershire. The school was opened in 2016 by BJJ Black belt Liam Corrigan making martial arts available to adults and children in the area.
​
Liam is the most decorated competition grappler in Leicester and with over 200 bouts worldwide and 13 years of training he brings a wealth of experience that he passes on to his students every day at BMA.
​
Along with BJJ classes we also offer striking classes to make sure that all students have the opportunity to become well rounded in combat sports and competent in areas of self defence.

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
BJJ is a grappling based martial art with an emphasis on fighting on the ground. To defeat an opponent BJJ encourages that you use technique over strength to take someone down to the ground where you can overcome them with leverage and weight distribution ultimately forcing a submission by applying joint locks and choke holds. There are no strikes allowed in BJJ.

BJJ has a ranking system that awards students with coloured belts to signify growing levels of technical knowledge and practical skill. It is common for a student to take 10-12 years to achieve black belt status.
